Donna North
Donna North is an Auckland based artist who has painted since 2003 and had her first Auckland exhibition with Compose Art Gallery in Grey Lynn. A prolific painter, Donna has a strong following throughout New Zealand and is known for her accomplished large-scale works.
Born in 1953, New Plymouth, New Zealand, Donna attended Whitcliffe College of Arts and Design majoring in photography and has previously worked as a freelance photographer.
In her current body of work, Donna uses a palette knife to meticulously apply oil paints and build up a wall of colour reminiscent of flower meadows or seasons. What seems a simple field of colour from a distance, draws you in to reveal the complexity of the work.
