delicia sampero

Picture
Delicia Sampero is an Auckland based painter and installation artist, who has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1993. Collaborative exhibitions such as I AM and THE MIRROR MAMA PROJECT, deal with issues of identity and offer documentation of, and insights into, a wider creative community of Aotearoa.

Since 2010 she has specialised in traffic sign art.  Her ongoing artistic and conceptual enquiry spans many ways of working with this material, as sculptures, paintings, installations and film.  Her artwork reflects on advancements in transport and technology and its effects on human beings and the natural world. Delicia’s work is held in private and public collections nationally and internationally. (Massey University, Wallace Arts Trust, Reef Shipping, Michael Hill, University of Samoa, German Consulate, World Bank Washington DC  )

Her road-sign installations have featured at prestigious art events including Sculpture on the Gulf and Sculpture on the Shore.

As public signs, they suggest a sense of urgency, even danger; A necessity to engage and look ahead. The quest of these projects is to stimulate imaginations and discourse.
